While traditional hatchbacks may be more mild-mannered, car manufacturers have been launching more and more “hot hatchbacks” – high-performance versions of traditional hatches. These cars offer immense power despite their small size, and are, thus, quite desirable. Here is our list of the top hot hatchbacks currently available.

2020 Chevrolet Bolt

 The Chevy Bolt makes 200 is fitted with a 60-kWh battery pack that makes 200 horsepower. Like other electric vehicles, the peak torque is available on demand. The battery is placed in a way that gives this EV a low center of gravity, making it feel really solid when driving on the road. One of the best perks of this car is that it offers a range of 259 miles on a single charge. The Bolt is priced at a little under $37,000.

2020 Volkswagen GTI

 Although the Volkswagen GTI only has a single turbocharged four-cylinder engine, it offers excellent performance. It also provides really smooth handling, which makes it a treat to drive even on roads with a lot of curves. The brakes also have good stopping power. This model costs $28,585.

2020 Hyundai Veloster N

 The base model of the Veloster costs $27,600. But, if you have the desire and the budget, you can double the horsepower of the base model. The Veloster N’s engine makes about 250 horsepower, which is nearly 100 horsepower more than what the base variant makes. And, for an additional $2,100, you can get the Performance Package, which is offered on the N line – it gives you an additional 25 horsepower along with summer tires, electronic limited-slip differential, and larger brakes.

2020 Audi SQ5

 The Audi Q5’s S edition offers 100 horsepower over what the standard variant of the car offers. The SQ5 is designed with a twin-turbo V6 engine that makes 349 horsepower, and it offers sporty handling and comfortable ride quality. The car is priced at $52,900.

Keep in mind that not all hatchbacks offer the kind of performance that the hot hatches above will provide you. However, if you value speed and performance, and you want a compact car, make sure to consider a hot hatch.
